Almost every school makes rings like that. It's a gift to the players. I don't really have a problem with anyone doing it. Little bit strange, sure, but there is nothing wrong with it. Celebrate accomplishments.

I think it's pathetic to make division rings, especially for any of the upper tier SEC programs.

I agree. Rings are no different than trophies to me. I'm sure plenty of guys in here were named All-District or something to that extent in high school and were given a trophy/plaque to commemorate it. They don't throw the plaque in the trash because they were only All-District and not All-Americans. That is basically what some people are implying in this thread, that giving out rings for division titles is stupid because they weren't national titles. One accomplishment is certainly better than the other but that doesn't mean the lesser accomplishment isn't still an accomplishment and shouldn't be recognized.
