Technically correct, but we have to read the "rivalry" part in terms of practical application lest we get a pair of teams that have only played a few games against each other. Nobody wants a stat where two teams played once in 1887, once in 1953, once in/ 1971 and then again last year and trying to claim it's the South's oldest rivalry.

Honestly, I'm of the opinion that Virginia hasn't a respectable part of the South since Reconstruction anyway, so I'm more than happy to say the AU/UGA rivalry is the sole legitimate contender for the title of the South's oldest rivalry
