Auburn fans, what were your thoughts on the spring game?
I caught little bit last night. Defense seemed to be dominating. First score was a safety right?

The defense could be even better than last year. The offensive line is going to be our weakest unit at this rate.

Defense will be better than last year.
FG is secure with Carlson 2.0. He mentioned that he felt good from 65 yards in.
QB is solid.
WR are solid.
Problem is that OL and RB are weak links and Gus is stubborn. If Mike Leach was our OC- we would throw it 45 times a game and win the SEC this year. With Gus, we will lose 4.

I caught little bit last night.

While acounting for the "stacked" not packed TV propoganda viewing side, they had likely quadrupled the Grove Bowl but still had a bit fewer than expected given the contractual expectations of the new and improved Gus Bus. He's bringing your toast dry and your hash browns covered, smothered, peppered, and topped.

HA!! yeah, most Auburn fans probably tuned out after the first quarter, if you want to call it that, but to say there was actually a quarter of football would actually insinuate a game was played, but it’s hard to call it a game.

What kind of format and scoring system do they use?
I'm not a fan of the engineered spring game formats.
I like 1s vs 1s and 2s vs 2s in a regularly played game.
I do like the CNS "on field commish" style as well to force a "HC" coordinators hand in certain situational plays. Whole game is vanilla, but watching the 2s compete is probably the best part.

With Leach, you’d also give up 40+ every game. Leach doesn’t do defense.

We started doing 7 on 7 which was really just for Stidham to get some live reps without being attacked then we moved to basic 11 on 11 with 1s versus twos. I can’t remember exactly but I am pretty sure our 2s defense completely dominated our 1s offense. Our enthusiasm for Malik Willis might be a bit tempered now that we have learned he doesn’t really know how to throw a football.

Any time you limit a Spread Option Offense to touching only of the QBs, you are not going to get much out of the Spring Game. I have heard that the QBs have not been able to show their passing abilities all Spring, because they have been running for their lives. That is either an indication of the OL or the DL. AU will be very good on D and if Stidham stays heathly, they can be very good on Offense. If they can find a punter, their STs will be one of the best in the SEC.

Again, his throwing ability has been limited by the DL rushing abilities. They haven't let him take live hits, so he has had to get rid of the ball a lot quicker than he normally would.

I thought that OL looked particularly unathletic. Looked like a bunch of fat guys in saggy pants.

It was pretty uninspiring. Hopefully things will get polished up before the fall.

I wtched for entertainment.
I saw some things that can be a concern but withhold those due to it being a Spring game. nothing to get uptight over. I also saw some things that would make one excited over but will not because it's the Spring Game.
I don't have a real solid feel of this team's look, ability, or potential yet.
For that reason I predict 15-0 Ship!

That is why I said “OC”.
I did not say fire Steele(DC) or fire Gus(recruiting and running the program)

They know they are bound to have at least 7 to 8 wins. It happens just about every year

Except when we do win more we actually win or play for the NC.

Looks like we will be in some 12-10 type games. Good D and bad O.
