Midland is in some ways a shithole, but its sister city Odessa is worse. The region is full of oilfield trash, of both the wealthy and poor varieties.

Midland has an oddly impressive skyline for a city its size

I can’t think of a worse area in the country to be a single male than Midland/Odessa. People who live there make bank, so if you’re making 150K a year, congrats you’re a nobody over there.

I lived there for a few months, and any chick I checked out I felt guilty, because they were either high school chicks or married women. No single hot chicks of age live in Midland/Odessa, because they go fishing for husbands in Dallas, Austin, and Houston. There’s a reason why most loaded people who work there just fly in for the work week and fly out to Houston or Dallas on the weekend.

A buddy of mine worked there. He said that Odessa was the richer town while Midland was the working class.

There's good money to be made there, but at the cost of your mental wellness. Any free time he had, he spent it at the gym or playing video games because the area was just flat out boring.
