The thing about this that nobody has brought up is Saban comes as close as possible to guaranteeing you a championship over the next 5 years. Kirby is more of a risk.

Georgia hasn't won a title in forever and are starved for one. It'd be hella hard to trade a guarantee of 1 title for the possibility of 2-3 IMHO in that situation. 2007 me would have said "give me the 1 and lets call it a day".

Thread should have ended way back when someone made the obvious point that UGa would trade for Saban 100% of the time

This is the exact point I was trying to make. I don't think most UGA fans are trying to say Kirby is better than Saban, but he might have more upside due to longevity.

My response to that would be that is a risk I wouldn't take as any fan. I was a student at Auburn in 2010 and in Arizona for the NC. I wouldn't trade that season for anything. Saban has 5 NC's in 11 and has streaks of 3 out 4 and now 2 out of 3 (with 3 straight appearances). And 1 at LSU. That is as close to a guarantee as possible and I would take any opportunity for another year like 2010.
