Hey what obscure, probably unproven, mid major coach with minimal Arkansas connection..

Should we go after?
What say you?
Chris Beard!!! (Graduated from f-ing UT)
Porter Moser!! (Creighton, that worked out last time)
Who else out there should be project our delusions on that Arkansas is their dream job?
The UMBC coach? How many Kevin Bacons away is he?

Anyone of them would at least coach/teach an actual offense and defense. Hell, that would be a big upgrade over MA's lack of fundamentals "coaching".

But what about their suit game and Jordan collection?
Mike has that in spades based on the instagram I saw.

Of the two schools of thought about having a winning basketball team - I think we need to shift our philosophy.
It seems you can either assemble a team of outstanding athletes, highly rated 'one and done' types - or you can recruit basketball players that know and understand the game, that will be with you for three or four years.
We seem to be trying to go the 'athlete' route, and it just hasn't worked because we can't get enough of the higher rated ones.
Heck, lets just find some 'players' and try that route.

Or we could go hire Chris Mack. Pay him 3.5 which would double his current salary, and have a coach who has two sweet 16’s and an Elite 8 appearances in the same time frame that Mike has had none.
Heck he has more than mike has in has had in his entire career and has less year in the game. I don’t think anybody here is worried about Arkansas connections.
Louisville is hard on Mack right now.

We just lost in the first round with a team that consisted of 7 seniors

You want a 1 seed coach that just lost in the 2nd round?
I agree he'd be solid, just saying what others are going to say.
But zero chance of it happening.

Mike doesn't value the 4 and 5 position enough.
Rebounding is horrendous and production from the forward position is laughable at best.

Care to provide evidence?
I'd say three of his 10 best players since being here have been 4/5's.

Lack of depth and filling needs around those guys.
Portis, Kingsley and Gafford have been our three highest ranked and only true elite HS players by the rankings. Barford and Macon were 1 and 2 JUCOs but they aren’t graded or valued like HS elites.

So, how exactly does he not value them again? He had Portis and Moses at the same time... that's depth.
He had Moses and Thompson (excellent back-up) at the same time.

I’ll continue that the 4 spot which is vital to this system has been severely neglected since the time of Coty Clarke who was an afterthought JUCO in 2012.
I mean look at this quality. They suck evaluating talent or suck at recruiting and only take what they can get.
Devonta Abron - 2011
Coty Clarke - 2012
Jacorey Williams - 2012
Alandise Harris - 2012
Keaton Miles - 2013
Portis - 2013
Dustin Thomas - 2015
Arlando Cook - 2016
Adrio Bailey - 2016
Gabe Osabuohien - 2017
Reggie Chaney - 2018
Ethan Henderson - 2018 - might be playing center at 185
Mickelson - 2011
Moses - 2013
Thompson - 2014
Willy Kouassi - 2015
Gafford - 2017

Only three players all at the same time for two positions isn’t depth. After Bobby the 4 has been terrible and even with Bobby we didn’t have that athletic havoc causing 4 for pressing or an offense threat.

RazorHawg pretty much covered the answer while I was on a conference call..

I think that the evidence shows that he does indeed value the position.
I'll never defend the current staff's recruiting results, but you can't look there and say that the position is not valued.
Abron was a top 150 player
Cook was a top JUCO recruit
Thomas was a top 150 player out of HS
