Well for one, the coach has usually proved himself worthy of a big contract. Of course with each new year, it goes up.
These kids havent done shite. Most of them likely wouldnt even get
Not sure what you are arguing because a football player who wins a heisman FR + SO year still wouldn't be able to get a big contract despite proving himself "worthy" as consecutive best player in the game
Even if you estimate $100,000 expenses per scholarship kid, that is only $8.5mil on scholarship + expenses for the entire AU football team while Gus Malzahn alone makes $7mil/year
There is no universe that it makes sense that $ is being properly spent where a 10W coach makes as much as the cost of the entire football team's "compensation"
quote:
They get huge exposure. Lets talk about how much it costs regular companies to advertise. These kids are all over. I dont know Bob that works in Marketing for Budlight, but Ill know my 3rd string QB and where he is from.
Exposure that they are not allowed to use to their financial advantage which effectively means nothing

Most of the ones demanding money would spend it on ridiculous shite as well
What does this have to do with whether they should be compensated? This is completely irrelevant to the conversation
quote:
If they get money, they should still keep the rules about No representation.
So say an 18 YO kid gets $100k+ / year, are you suggesting he shouldn't be allowed to get qualified financial advisors or publicity professionals to help maximize his earnings?
quote:
Plus it would keep those influencers out of the picture (like how it is supposed to be)
The better course of action would be to require any agent/advisor to register and be subject to fiduciary duty law
quote:
Also, if these kids want this, they should implement a zero tolerance policy and if they frick up once, they are done.
As always, this is the responsibility of the coach/school to handle players.

Irrelevant. If a 7th round draft choice in the NFL wins the MVP award his first two seasons in the league, he still has to play out his rookie contract.
