The answer is obvious but pretty dull. They made a bad coaching hire and it dragged the program down for a bit.

Kim Anderson was not up to the job and he stayed long enough that Mizzou is having to do a rebuild.

Arkansas was a top 5 program in football not that long ago but John L. Smith followed by Bert pretty well put paid to that. Now we are having to do a rebuild.

A bad coaching hire can make any program look bad. Ask the older Alabama fans about the post Stallings era they suffered through.

Mizzou will be fine in the long run.
