My friend lives in Midtown and I like that area when I go to visit him. He lives walking distance to a handful of bars and restaurants. It seems like a good mix of families and young singles, but mostly families.
That's about all I know about Memphis. As a young grad, I wouldn't want to live out in the suburbs. I'd prefer to be closer to the action downtown. You have your whole life in front of you to kill your soul by moving to the cookie cutter suburbs.

I have a cousin that lives in Southaven and I'm told that they've cleaned up Midtown quite a bit. Also Southaven isn't as bad as advertised.
