It's sad that this is no longer a joke but a factual statement.

Exactly eliminate the kick off.
Actually I saw a survey once and the most exciting play by the FANS was the kick off, ok if you have played the game a bit you also know the kick-off is the most injury prone, so it looks like the rule is supposed to protect player from injury.
