The Tide will now have four scholarship quarterbacks on the roster in Tua Tagovailoa, Jalen Hurts, and Mac Jones. Hatcher welcome the competition.

"No problem," he said. "I would love to learn from those guys, compete with those guys, and be friends with those guys. I want to surround myself with the best and they're the best in the college game right now. I'm excited to be around those guys and learn and compete with them... to be the best I can be."

Another top Alabama target at Pulaski Academy is the nation's No. 1 tight end for 2019 in Hudson Henry. The Tide now has another recruiter going after the 6-foot-5, 225-pounder. "Definitely getting in his ear," Hatcher said. "I'm going to go see him tonight before I leave actually and do my own recruiting."

A 6-foot-1, 204 pounds, Hatcher is rated the No. 53 dual-threat quarterback and No. 2,182 overall player in the country, per the 247Sports Composite. Last season he threw for 5,779 yards and 66 touchdowns, including a 757-yard, six touchdown performance in one outing.

Hatcher will arrive on campus Saturday and move in on Sunday.

Three-star quarterback and new Alabama commit Layne Hatcher’s outing vs. undefeated rival Little Rock Christian last season (game highlights video) is one that’ll never be forgotten in local football lore. And it's something he might be asked about on the practice field or inside the quarterback room next season with the Crimson Tide.

The Little Rock, Arkansas native and star at Pulaski Academy threw for 757 yards and was responsible for nine total touchdowns during an 86-56 win last season, shattering numerous program and state records with a performance for the ages. Hatcher completed 36-of-45 passes and finished with nearly 800 yards of total offense, picking up three touchdowns on the ground.

Hatcher flipped his verbal commitment from Arkansas State to Alabama on Friday after the Crimson Tide extended an official offer. A 6-foot-1, 204 pounds, Hatcher is rated the No. 53 dual-threat quarterback and the No. 2,182 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

"They like that I'm a very accurate thrower," Hatcher told BamaOnline after his decision. "That's definitely my strongest point. I'm not a 6-5 guy with a bazooka arm. I'm the guy that's a detail guy that wins and cares about the little stuff. I really focus on my accuracy and mental game. That's what they saw in me and they thought I could be a good help for them. I was super excited that they even thought about me as a player."

The Tide will now have four scholarship quarterbacks on the roster in Tua Tagovailoa, Jalen Hurts, and Mac Jones. Hatcher says he welcomes the competition.

"No problem," he said. "I would love to learn from those guys, compete with those guys, and be friends with those guys. I want to surround myself with the best and they're the best in the college game right now. I'm excited to be around those guys and learn and compete with them... to be the best I can be."

As you can see from the highlight film, Hatcher has tremendous touch and has no issues rifling through progressions. He'll provide immediate depth to a stacked position in Tuscaloosa.

Hudson Henry

I’m assuming slash/hoping that’s Hunter’s little brother. Dude is an Alabama legend despite never playing a snap here.
