Faatui Tuitele, 5-star DT (HI)

Tuitele has a special connection to the Crimson Tide in that he’s a distant cousin and former teammate of Tua Tagovailoa. The Honolulu (Hawaii) St. Louis product made his first visit out to Tuscaloosa last month and spent time with the Tagovailoa family.

“It was a huge leap of faith coming out here almost 5,000 miles from Hawaii,” Tua’s father, Galu Tagovailoa, said of their experience leaving Hawaii for Alabama. “They understood that and I think it’s a lot easier for them if they do decide to make Alabama as their home because they have family here; we’re here. We can make things easier for them.

"They’re the same kind of family as us. They’re all about church, they’re about what’s best for their kids. They’re very, very good people and a good family. Not just Alabama, but whoever gets this kid is getting someone special. I think Alabama has a good chance just like every other school they’re looking at.”

The five-star defensive tackle is planning to narrow his list to five soon. I would be shocked if the Tide was not on that list.

Nakobe Dean, 5-star ILB (MS)

If you want to see what an elite inside linebacker looks like on film, dial up Dean’s Hudl page.

The Horn Lake (Miss.) product and No. 1 ILB in the nation is the Tide’s top priority at a major position of need in the cycle. Dean has visited Tuscaloosa twice this spring and is very high on Alabama.

“Alabama is great,” Dean said. “I love the people there. And the coaches of course are amazing. They always reiterate to me when I come, even if they aren’t there, Coach (Nick) Saban will still be there. They’ll still win championships. That’s another thing I love about Alabama — how they’re all about their business.”

Along with the Tide, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, and Stanford, among others, are working hard to pull Dean out of the Magnolia State. Though Dean himself has said he will likely play in the SEC, people close to the situation have said Stanford is a school in the mix that has favor in the Dean family — something to keep an eye on.

The five-star ‘backer won’t make a decision until late in the process.
