I will be moving back to SC in a couple of weeks! I survived 5 years in Louisiana, and I couldn't be happier to move just in time for baseball season to start. It's going to be nice to be back in the Soda City

Don't like DC?

Congrats to OP.

What brought you to BR?

In my travels LA sucked. You could only do NOLA for a few days then GTFO and never come back for another 4-5 years (and that only being for a football game)

My wife attended grad school at LSU. She is graduating in August with her PhD and finally going to start making a pay check

That’s awesome, my wife just got her doctorate (from USC) too. Congrats on the move back to Cola, wish I was still there but I moved to Charleston last month.

The area off 12th St Extension in Cayce or the neighborhoods by the airport are a pretty good spot to live. You don’t have as much traffic and you’re still less than 20 minutes from downtown.

DC is fine. Plenty of stuff to see and do and I’ll always be glad that I moved out of SC and saw some other parts of the world, but man it ain’t home.

Plus, there’s the regular stuff with these kinds of cities, crowded, expensive, unauthentic networking events, everyone thinks they do something important.

Not sure I recall what you're talking about.

Oddly enough that describes my visit to New Orleans as well. Great for the first day. Kinda there the second. By the third day I couldn't wait to leave.

Of course I had the same reaction to Las Vegas so maybe I'm allergic to party cities?

Welcome back.

I always was happy to come back home over the decades. It was always a good feeling.

Home is home. It just feels good to be home after being away for years.

Same for me with Vegas.

Although I did Ibiza and did not feel that at all.

Must be because Vegas and Nola are dumps.
