13 straight conference championships

I'm told conference championships don't matter in basketball or baseball.

But when a coach you think is great doesn't cut the mustard in the tourney for the program he's at or the talent his program attracts they all the sudden matter?

I've been hard on Mike when the team under performs... and lets face it we've had some bowling shoe ugly games this year where they did. I've also given him credit when the team does well.

A hideous win like we had against Okie State, is a lot better then a gorgeous loss.

The thing is... we are going to get complete eyesore games like this with the system that we are running in today's NCAA basketball.

While I remember the golden years of Razorback basketball I also remember the last few years that Nolan was here when the flaws in that system were exposed.

If the other team, or the refs, slows the game down we are going to be in trouble because we don't have a plan B. Nolan and Mike both are not great Xs and Os coaches who have a ton of plays to go too in a half court set up.

As much as it pains me to say it, what we do in the Forty Minutes of Hell system is a lot like the HUNH that the Gus Bus runs. Its not a tremendously complicated system... but we run it so fast it wears you down. Fatigue makes cowards of us all.

Just like the HUNH when its clicking we can blow just about anyone out of the water... and the other side of that coin is that when its not we can get an absolute beat down laid on us.

In regular season games where the refs are calling fouls every ten seconds we aren't going to be able to run away from many teams. When the refs swallow their whistles and we can get into a fast paced game you see the sort of epic scoring runs that Nolan's teams put away folks with.

At this stage of his career Mike Anderson is not going to change his entire philosophy. We are who we are in basketball.
