One other huge addition a dual threat QB adds is on a zone read, the LBs sometimes take a split second longer to get to the running back because of the threat of the QB running.
Fwiw, I like Fields a ton. More than I liked Fromm coming in and I was a huge Fromm fan. That being said, he has to prove himself at the collegiate level. There are plenty of Elite 11 MVPs and top ranked QBs that come in and don't prove themselves. I love that Fields came to a place he's going to have to compete. He and Fromm should be awesome pushing each other, and I think that they both have great heads on their shoulders. Same as Eason. It makes the QB competition better and brings the best out of each player.
Regardless, I love the situation we're in going forward. We're establishing ourself as an offensive powerhouse that brings in elite QBs, RBs, OL, and TEs. After the 2019 class, and with what I'm expecting Hardman, Ridley, and Godwin to do this year I think the WRs will get that same love.

That’s what I’m saying he will put them in compromising positions. ILB’s are supposed to flow to the TB at any sign of a run play. Ends squeeze holes on everything that runs away from (most of the time) and with Fromm we have to pull a TE around to block a second level defender (LB or sometimes a safety). Fields allows us to run all of our simple run plays but the defense is in a compromised situation because if they flow and squeeze down to hard Fields pulls the ball and is gone for at least a first down.
If he gives the ball the defense gets spread out and their flow is too slow so you take Deandre Swift, Holyfield, White, Cook, or Herrien with creases in the defense and all the defenders are blocked or there is just one defender in a hole that they have to beat. We all know that our backs can beat one guy.
This is a compromised position at all times. If we give the ball and don’t read we aren’t holding anyone accountable and the defense can over play to shut the run down.
