I gotta say, I am white, my family is white, but one of my daughters has an african american boyfriend she has dated for 5 years.

At first I was PISSED at this. I mean SUPER pissed. I'll admit racial bias. Fear of mixed kids, would the guy be able to mix in our family, etc.

However, after quite a lot of talking with my wife etc, I decided... what is it thats really important.

1. Does he love my daughter?
2. Does my daughter love him?
3. Do they respect each other?
4. Does he respect other people and especially women?
5. Does he perform well in school?
6. What are his prospects for being a good provider and husband?
7. Does he have a future plan for his career?
8. Does he respect and treat his parents well?
9. Does he do drugs/drink/etc. (within social limits ok).

What I found out was this was the same standard I would apply to anyone who wanted to date my daughter. Race had ZERO to do with it.

Dude passes all those tests. Now if they have kids I aint having any grandkids named Shaquavious... and you better not play that rap shite at my house. (I tell all my kids that). But otherwise...Im good.

Sounds like you had to think this one through for real. Nice choices.
