Jalen is not a shitty QB that's way out of line. He is inadequate as a passer but from all accounts works hard to improve.

Saban is in an odd position. Comfortable vs shiny. He's not making a rash decision or letting others push him into it. He may want Tua too, but he isnt going to instantly sit Hurts, who has gotten them where they have. Leaving other parts of the team to excel, and make up for where hurst lacks.

Tua is still not 100% proven as he was in a less stressful situation. A loss would have gone on saban/hurts, and tua is the offseason hype build up. Same as he is now. Win/win for tua.

Possibly gradually moving hurts over to another position, but I dont think saban is going to give it to tua before he proves he knows the playbook, etc. Not just freeballing it backyard style around the hype of a ncg. Tape on him now for coaches to prep for too.

I actually see hurts possibly like a C. Patterson at UT under Dooley. Just hand him the ball in a reverse, and let him run to the end zone forrest gump style. Ha.

I don't disagree that he's not 100% proven, but I strongly disagree with that logic. Tua was in a highly stressful situation. I don't think "It's ok if we lose, it will be on them" ever crossed his mind.

OT in the national title game isn't stressful at all.
