Defenses don't "mesh" with offenses. A good defense is a good defense. Every defense is going to have better stats when paired with a pro-style, hold-on-to-the-ball style of offense, though.

Agreed but I do think that you can argue a more aggressive defense is better paired with a up-tempo offense that is effective because in theory you are getting the ball back more often but also allowing quicker scores by the opposing offense.
Even in that situation, the defense is going to have mediocre/bad numbers but you are hoping for a high turnover rate.
