Year 1 is always a mulligan, be it filled with miracles or bad lucks. Year 2 is much more relevant.

Boom went 11-2 in his second season.

Also, I get you are stuck on the five loss seasons, but honestly if the trade was for a national championship every six years, most teams would take that.

Exactly. If Kirby somehow wins the Nc this year he will be as good of a coach as Gene Chizik. Well, not really since Chizik didn't lose a game during his NC run.
