What do you think about it if that comes to be the case? And also I read an article on SDS (crapshoot) that was talking about long shots and had KC Keeler and John Gross. Is S.C. a big enough job to land either?

SC is a big enough job to lure anyone on that list here. It's all about money, fan support, fertile recruiting grounds, facilities and conference affiliation these days ... and we have all of those going for us.

The wild card is being given free reign. I think mUSChamp is wanting to find a guy he feels comfortable giving free reign to when it comes to our offense. Someone who knows how to adjust and mold his scheme around, based on what he has on-hand in terms of talent.

What makes all great OCs great, what sets them apart from others, is being flexible within their system. Having a feel for the strengths and weaknesses of their personnel.

Spurrier was the master in his younger days. I remember watching him draw plays in the dirt on the sidelines at Duke. He would get into a groove in a game and no defense could totally shut him down ... and he did it with players no one else wanted.

Is there that kind of coach out there? Who knows. But we need someone who makes it fun for the players. Someone who puts them into situations where they can be successful, someone who they will trust.

I think that is what he is looking for in a new OC. This is a critical hire for him ... deja vous all over again as Yogi Berra once said. He's gotta get this right.
