And Cooper will take over the OL coaching

LINK

quote:

Where does that leave the staff moving forward? Jon Cooper, an offensive analyst on the staff, will take over coaching duties for the offensive line through the bowl game, Odom said. The rest of the offensive staff will work collectively when it comes to game-planing and calling plays. In Friday's practice, tight ends coach Joe Jon Finley wore the headset and appeared to be calling the offensive plays off a script. Odom said he'll give internal candidates consideration for the vacant jobs, including his offensive coaches for the coordinator position.

Joe Jon is going to get the OC job and I'm happy about it. Think he is a rising star and he'll do well.

Maybe promoting from within will engender loyalty down the road.

I didn’t think Heupel would hang around here that long. I thought it would be a good time to audition someone from within. Good for Jo Jon. Let’s see if he can handle it. If not, we can always hire someone in January.

Jon Cooper played OL 4 seasons in the NFL, so that’s a pretty solid guy to have around to fill in coaching the OL. Could be the full time replacement if it goes well, who knows

A national scribe said that Cooper was one of two guys that would be following Heupal.

That was the belief initially, but with Elarbee taking the OL position at UCF Cooper is not likely to follow.
