Some interesting thoughts on this situation...

Certain people are willing to throw a lot of money to get Gus. There are certain people who are not on board with this. We will see who wins out today or tomorrow.
Now, here are my thoughts on our program going forward...and I take this from someone telling me "some of these guys are willing to do whatever it takes to be relevant again"
My thoughts...I hope this doesn't turn into an Ole Miss situation...younger money is more prone to take the route of doing things under the table than older money. At least, in my experiences. Younger generations seem to want results quickly, while older money can go the route of wait and build it. I think if Gus is hired, the program has a CHANCE, again, has a chance of getting a little "iffy" on the recruiting front, etc.

Good.
Let’s just not be stupid about it like OM or the Wild West SMU days.
I have no end of trouble understanding how players getting paid under the table somehow turned into an issue of morality and right/wrong, especially when coaches are making Fortune 10 CEO money now.

I'm glad someone else around here with some "cred" is telling these folks this. I've been trying to tell people this for awhile now. Gus Malzahn doesn't have unanimous approval of the folks that would need to sign off on this deal.
And he isn't gonna get that approval either. It comes down to two things. 1) money, and 2) people just don't like the guy.
Sorry to all the Malzahnistas, but I would be extremely surprised if that guy ends up coaching here. EVER
