I had to Google our ole buddy for a good laugh after mentioning him in this thread, found some of his gems right off the bat. This dude should be on payroll from Venables, I've never seen a grown man so obsessed with another man he's never met, let alone an assistant coach. Pretty sure he may be *special* and believes Venables is the sole coach, player, and support staff anywhere he's been.

Now that I see his recent posting history, he HAS changed to a slightly more normal style but still far less angry-all-the-time to be BoarEd.

For instance, most Hogs Fans are tired of our poor Linebacker recruiting and poor Linebacker play over the last 10 years. The following shows the excellent recruiting and coaching of Venables in regards to LBs: ...

And he's still on his UCA coach kick:

quote:

Steve Campbell, Head Coach at UCA, would be a better hire than Tim Horton. Campbell is 10-1 at UCA this season.
Campbell coached with Pat Dye at Auburn and coached with Jackie Sherrill at Mississippi State. Coaching with Pat Dye at Auburn is probably a better qualification than coaching with Malzahn at Auburn.

quote:

We need to hire a Coach who has had consistent sustained success. Venables has 18 seasons of winning 10+ games (this current season is the 18th of him having 10+ wins). Malzahn has had some average seasons at Tulsa and at Auburn.

quote:

Venables interviewed for our job in 2012, and we have got a new Football Center since then. If Stoops was on a fact finding mission to see how our Football Center is it may have been to give Venables information so that Venables can see that we have a facility that will be helpful for Venables recruiting here.

quote:

Steinmetz saw/knows that Venables shut-out Ohio State in the Playoff last season. It is the only time Urban Meyer has been shut-out at the collegiate level. Venables shutting-out Meyer had to of impressed Steinmetz.

quote:

If State hires Venables, then we may need to forget about even getting any players in that state. Even Ole Miss will have some trouble getting players in Mississippi because Venables will get that state locked-down.

quote:

If Mississippi State hires Venables, the rest of the SEC West will be having a major problem. I noticed over on Coaching Changes board over on another site that a Mississippi State fan posted that they are chocked full of 4 Star defensive players. Basically, it looks like all Venables would need to do at State is bring in a Sam Bradford/Baker Mayfield type of a QB, and State will be a problem for the rest of the SEC West.

quote:

Venables has a Nick Sabanesque level of attention to detail (except Venables kept Auburn to just 6 points, Saban kept Auburn to 26 points). Here is a 2016 article that talks about Venables' attention to detail. The following link to the article on the Tulsa World site doesn't have the entire article, but it has a picture of Venables. You can see his intensity in the picture.

Hahahahahahaha this has to be a joke, right?! Nope.

quote:

Kiffin and Norvell are not elite recruiters. Morris is a good recruiter, but he he is not quite as good as Venables.

From the following article:

quote:

Venables continues to school the SEC. He is now 5-0 recently against the SEC.

Defeated Auburn in 2016 (he kept Auburn to 13 points)
Defeated South Carolina in 2016
Defeated Alabama in the National Championship game (he kept Alabama to just 2 out of 15 on 3rd Down Conversions)
Defeated Auburn in 2017 (he kept Auburn to 6 points)
Defeated South Carolina in 2017

quote:

Venables has put himself in position for a Head Coach job for the following level of football programs:

Clemson
Oklahoma
Florida
Florida State
LSU
Texas A&M
Tennessee

quote:

Venables does have ties.

He has been a 3 time Finalist for The Broyles Award (2006, 2015, and 2016).

Venables won The Broyles Award in 2016.

Being a Finalist and winning The Broyles Award is more of a tie to the University of Arkansas than Norvell's playing at UCA.

Playing at UCA has nothing to do with the University of Arkansas.

quote:

Our job may not be big enough anymore for Venables.

I presume he will either replace Swinney at Clemson, or he eventually becomes Oklahoma's Head Coach. If Texas A&M is totally tired of not having a great defense, then he may get considered for that Head Coach job. Venables has shown that he can recruit against anyone in the State of Texas. We had 2 chances to hire Venables. We instead chose to hire a NFL failure (Robert Petrino) and we instead chose to hire a Coach with a sham record from the Mediocre 10 Conference (Bielema).

quote:

I presume Nick Saban has been watching and studying the film to see how Venables shut down Malzahn's High School Wing-T offense. Here is what Venables stated last season:

quote:

Defensively, Venables would make sure that we would do the following;

Excellent gap control/gap integrity
Excellent tackling
Excellent Linebacker play
Excellent Defensive Back coverage

quote:

Based on outright coaching ability alone, the following are the best options.

1. Brent Venables

quote:

The probable positives if we hired Venables:

Our recruiting would be excellent (especially our State of Texas recruiting).
Our game week preparation leading up to a game would be excellent.
Our lines-of-scrimmage play would be excellent.
Our Linebacker play would be excellent.
Our tackling would be excellent.
Our offensive scheme would spread out opposing defenses, which you have to do against the Alabama type defenses.

This is from the first 1.5 pages of his post history, and I even left quite a few out. I worry about this dude ever being in the same state as Venables, he totally has a secret shrine built somewhere with locks of his hair and chewed gum.
