It’s a balance issue.

That scenario is a problem, sure. But it will always exist as long as you have conference championships. I’m not arguing against your stance that Bama should be let in per se, I’m arguing that you also have to eliminate conference championships for that to be right.

If anything, conference championships are a penalty. Conf champions have to beat an additional elite team...and then get punished by having to beat another elite team a second time in the CFP that didn’t have to play the extra game..

I see what you're saying. However, I don't think you can eliminate conference title games without shrinking conferences. You can't count on declaring a champ with 14 teams and 8 games.
