I guess that’s our bowl this year? I’d like not to care but seems like it may be a very important game for us.
And the added twist, if you like Gus and want him then you want him to lose. If you don’t like him and don’t want him, you want him to win.
So, if he wins and stays at Auburn he’ll forever be the one that got away/what could have been. In a nutshell, it’s kind of a lose lose for people like me.
So, who ya got?

I think Auburn is gonna have a great shot to win that game with Bama being thin at linebacker.

Even if you don’t want Gus, it might be better for Auburn to lose.
The worst case scenario would be that Auburn wins the IB (and presumably the SECCG) and our GOBN decides to wait him out anyway, in which case we’re either:
a) leveraged by Sexton for more money from Auburn, and thus left holding our dicks in January
OR
b) have an SEC Championship and wait period leveraged by Sexton for more money from us, and we have to pay Gus Saban money to get him.
If our GOBN is as intent on getting Gus as they reportedly are, Auburn winning is the worst outcome regardless of where you sit.

Dunno, that Iron bowl is so damn unpredictable
I do think Auburn has a good chance for the same reason as Edward said

Argh. Your first sentence made me happy then the rest made me want to throw something.

The point being that Sexton is going to leverage our opening for more money for Gus, either from us or from Auburn.
The Iron Bowl will just be the catalyst for whether that happens now or a month and a half from now if our GOBN is dead set on Gus.
Our doomsday scenario would be the latter, in which case we would be up shite creek and left to fight for scraps if we’re without a coach in January and Norvell is off the board. You need only to look at Tennessee when Kiffin left to see that hiring a coach in January is a terrible predicament that rarely ends well.

Even with the gift of Bielema leaving (shall we dub that day Bertmas?) this is what worries me. If the GOBN has tunnel vision, and unlike an AD they probably will, they could decide that by golly they'll hang in there and still get him. Which could leave us with no good coaches left on the board... including the ones that really want to come here.
If we miss out on both Gus and Norvell, and wind up with a make do coach we will be kicking ourselves for years. Especially if Norvell goes to somewhere like Ole Miss and is successful. Nothing would be worse then losing to a coach who wanted to come to your school and you fiddle farted around and missed on.

I have no doubt that his paycheck will be up there.
