Asked about Arkansas rumors, Gus got pissy. He said, "One week you're getting fired, next week you're taking another job. I am trying to win the doggone SEC West."

Do your thing, Gus. Jimmy Sexton will continue to drum up the nonsense to increase your pay...

I'm not sure how much of it is Sexton, how much of it is Alabama fans/media shills, and how much of it is today's senationalist, clickbait press. But regardless, it did seem like Gus ain't havin none of it...

I really believe the body language more than his words. Even if he WANTED the job, they aren't waiting until after post season play.

In 2007, Miles was rumored to Michigan. He had 2 losses. He ended up winning the NC.

10 years later, could it be Gus?

Sorry, Hus. Didn't realize you had started a nearly identical thread.

He didn't deny interest. He just doesn't want to talk about it. He may not want the Arky job, but I promise you that he won't interfere with Sexton. There will be a bidding war, we'll end up extending Gus and giving him $5-6m a year. I just hope that he wins a few more games this year to earn it.

Hell just let him go to Arky 6-8 million is Saban money, I would take Matt Campbell and keep the D staff intact. Campbell has been a winner everywhere he has been and is in his 30s. Saban damn near 70.

Lord no. A new coach needs to bring in his own staff. And even if we are in the market, no way we hire a guy like Campbell with no southeastern ties. Would get eaten alive on the recruiting trail.

Auburn fans always want to keep half a coaching staff for a new guy lol. Not the way it works

This.

I can't get over the number of people who think it's a legitimate possibility to replace your HC and AD and keep the majority of the staff. Success is as much about staff chemistry as anything else, and you're probably not going to find a HC willing to come in and not bring his own guys. Nor are you going to find a staff majority that's willing or capable of just continuing on with the same or better efficiency under a brand new boss.

The whole premise is flawed, anyway. You want to fire a coach, but keep the majority of people he hired, and players he recruited? Sounds to me like he's doing two of his biggest job requirements pretty damn well.

We have held RG over for 3 different coordinators.

Yes, we managed to keep one position coach through all that. Thankfully, neither Muschamp nor Steele paid any attention to all of the "Fire RG" talk that prevailed here not so long ago.
