The fact your common sense and thoughtful post has all down arrows shows it will be around. People know it's bad, but don't care. We aren't different from the Romans. We love glory and entertainment.

Roman citizens rationalized: "yeah it is obviously bad for them but they made choices to end up there and they built entertainment out of the excitement and violence."

Today we say the same, "yeah it's obviously not good for them, but it's their choice and look at the glory they get."

So, Burg, will the players be people who are in jail and displayed for our entertainment? Concussions instead of lions. Equipped violence instead of swords and axes?

Are these people going to foot the bill for a league when whichever league they follow gets sued out of existence?

Right or wrong some lawsuit somewhere is going to pin culpability for personal damage on a governing body of the sport (NCAA, NFL, High School AAs) and then all the others are going to fold their tents
