He should understand what it is to be a Razorback.

Petrino didn't, but he had enough instate guys who did on his roster to make up for this, its an anomaly not the norm in that regard, Bert damn sure didn't. His attitude from day one was Arkansas was the same status as Ms. State not a top 25 program historically that it is.

The past two HC's have eroded the only real positive from Nutt's tenure, for all his fault's his kid's in the program understood what it meant to put on that helmet, his teams never quit and gave their all in 95% of the games.

Petrino's teams would quit when outmatched, Bert's team's have a had no fight and no pride when taking the field like Nutt's. We saw this before after Crowe/Ford, it can be restored, it doesn't necessarily have to be a coach with ties to the state or university, he doesn't have to Rah-Rah their way to understanding it, but he must have his teams understand that Arkansas has always been known as a program that doesn't quit, this reputation stretches back before even Broyles arrived, and when you really think about it, that is what pisses you off the most about Bert, his teams have no pride in the helmet and a ton of quit in them...

Agree with all of this, especially the bolded text.

I don’t mean that our next coach has to read Orville’s book and memorize it, but someone - a former player, BOT member or both - needs to get in his ear early and impress upon him what our program is, our deep history and tradition, and and what it means to the entire state.

Bert never gave a shite about our history or traditions and acted like we had neither, as evidenced by his opening presser and the way he conducted himself afterward. This was especially apparent with regard to things like his public disdain for playing in Little Rock, and the litany of bullshite social media (#Uncommon, #1-0) and marketing theatrics (throwing the A) that should be relegated to minor league baseball teams. He came in here acting like he was taking a job on the level of Purdue or Vanderbilt, and it shows in his coaching.
