All the up and coming good coaches are young. Riley, Fuente, Norvell, Campbell, and Frost. Your definition of “riding coat tails,” is called a coaching tree which is how it works in CFB. Coaches that have “ridden Stoops’ coat tails” that have gone on to be Head Coaches are Mike Leach, Chuck Long, Mark Mangino, Jay Norvell, Mike Stoops, Bo Pelion, Kevin Sumlin, Kevin Wilson, and now Lincoln Riley. Coaches don’t just pop up out of nowhere without being groomed, or aligned with other coaches that help them along the way. Who was Stoops groomed by before he took he OU job in 1999?

Wrong, a coaching tree is taking what you’ve learned from said coach and applying it else where. Preferably a shitty school with shitty players and you build them from the ground up like a phoenix from the ashes.

Not when your given the keys to the castle and trip over the abundance of skill and talent that Oklahoma has.
