Forcing even one pass to the block means there's not enough time to get off a shot. Forcing a pass to the wing drops the chances of a bucket drastically. If you drain that outside shot, you earned your win. But that layup?! We gave it away.

Usually the inbounds player in this situation is a big...with 4.4 seconds left he isn't trailing and catching anything.

If we are able to have the guy catch the ball going to the inbounds guy - that costs time for them to make the turn to dribble or find someone open for the pass.

I guess I'd rather make Scottie Pippen or Dennis Rodman beat me than have MJ take the shot at the end... so I can stomach that kind of loss.
