Heres a sobering stat. Mind you that dimwit color guy kept saying late in the 4th qt that UGA had second teamers in the damn game didn't bother to look at Gator uniform numbers, we had a lot of second teamers in the game with Zaire....but regardless, in his short stint Zaire was 3 for 6 for 36 yds, no picks and a 82.5 QBR. Franks was 7 for 19 for 30 fricking yds 1 pick and a QBR of 2.5 !! WTF? I've don't recall ever seeing a QB rating of 2.5 in my life.

Can't believe McElwain would prefer to play Franks over keeping a great job. frick him all the same, but holy shite how do you not even TRY Zaire in the last month?

And it should have been -- but he has like tourettes or something. He can't control what he says.

Honestly, though, I can't wait to see how the time reacts without him. Loved what the Gator players were saying: ''We're going to play for each other.''

This is exactly why you don't hire your friends. They'll be the first ones to screw you over. He wanted this and didn't mind the consequences. So, UF and fans should not feel bad about letting him go/quit/deep sea fish.

Ain't no one want him around, he doesn't even want to be around -- he said it was made evident to him about his contract in the pre-game meal and you could see he just doesn't give a flying frick.

I hope he agrees to not to go to court and just accepts a lesser buyout.

Giant piece of shite.

wow straws. i try to be cautiously optimistic when things get tough, and it's been a tough season where we should have seen progress.

i'm all for mac getting fired now, but i'm suprised at your reaction to him. maybe go plow one of those fine arse latin american women and straighten yourself out.

stay thirsty my friend.

I took so much shite for him on this board, man. I'm not so upset to let it bleed into my real life -- get mad at my dog or girlfriend or something like that.

But man, I love the Gators. The first picture I have of myself is in a Gator sweater.

He gave up on the team after I stood up for him, and shite -- if you don't want to be at the university...leave. Don't frick us over by obviously not giving two shits what happens on the field.

All his talk of ''Oh, I'm here for the players...that's why I'm on the sideline not communicating with ANYONE.''

He's such a bad coach, and now it's obvious he was appealing to everyone's sympathy last Monday over the death threats.

This is embarrassing, humiliating. Smiling the biggest smile you've ever seen coming off the field. I should hate him the most because I wasted all of my time defending him, only for other people to be right.

that's what i'm referring. don't beat yourself up over standing up for your team and hoping for the best. until the last couple days i was still optimistic about next year with mac as head coach.

you're a true fan bleeding orange and blue. we need more like you.

don't feel betrayed, you should feel like the last person off a sinking ship. you held out til there wasn't anything to hold out for.

Straws is a good fan, but being against a bad coach doesn't make you bad either. Going down with a sinking ship only means you were loyal to a terrible captain.

no doubt, but it doesn't mean straws didn't wanna see UF win. i was rooting for the gators today. didn't even care if it meant we'd keep mac. i don't do that. i think some of the more optimistic among us think that because people don't like a coach they aren't rooting for the gators.

i think it's a bunch of people with different opinions that care about our program.

That's the thing -- I always want to win, no matter who it is. My biggest issue is that it was so utterly obvious he just had no business being on the field. He didn't want to be out there, he doesn't like Florida.

And he may have a point -- I still think people were far too harsh on him for what he was trying to do and accomplished.

He definitely went down with his quarterback, though, and it just seems so weird that he was comfortable falling on that sword.

in previous post i thought mac could see the writing on the wall after the michigan game.

after the circus this week, i think he'd already accepted his fate. so we weren't seeing his initial reaction to everything.

I screamed from the rooftops this past summer that Franks was not ready to be a SEC QB. He had never taken a snap in a real game before and from high school/spring games I could see he gets too emotional and isn't calm enough to read the field.

We were doomed as soon as it was announced Franks was the starter for the meatchicken game. I was praying it would be LDR. I hoped for the best.

I support 100% whoever is the HC at UF because I love the Gators and since 1962 I have bled O&B. It hurts. Our fans can sometimes be our own worse enemy and we aren't going 12-0 every year...of course we should try to.

Feel bad for LDR & Zaire, they deserved better chances. For coming into the game stone cold Zaire acquitted himself and kept our scoring streak the longest in the nation. Kudos. Feel bad for Franks too....he wasn't ever ready and was given the reins anyway. WTF was the staff thinking? Franks only hope is to gain 25-30 lbs and hit the weight room and grow into that lanky body.

Lack of coaching is why they suck. Look at Brissett. We all said he sucked too and he's playing on Sundays. A bad coach makes his players look bad. I was sad for Franks yesterday because Butters kept trotting him out there with no clear plan. He basically left Franks out to dry as if he wanted him to fail miserably. I think Mac was very cruel in that regard.

A competent coach will turn this ship around immediately. This team is talented but sandbagged by poor coaching in all phases. I saw the lack of coaching the very first season, which is why I wanted him gone in year one. This team regressed as the season progressed. That is always an indictment on poor coaching. Good coaches clean that shite up quickly. We've never been able to compete against "good" teams. We've been blown out every time we played a team with a pulse. That is coaching or lack thereof.

Straws - there's nothing wrong with standing by the man selected to lead our program. It is very difficult to demand a divorce. You want to try everything and give them as much rope as possible. Even when it goes in the shitter, you still want to give it one more try. It's not until you've finally had enough and you're at the point of no return that you can see clearly.

It wasn't even that deep -- it was all revolving on one motherfricking thing.

quote:

Zaire Needs to Start Next Week.

That fricking thing is what finally broke me. I understand Zaire isn't great, as TJ pointed out -- but he's got five fricking years in the league. He's played in the league before, he's gotten coached up all those years and is accustomed to the speed, the reads and football in general.

We don't need him to throw, we need him to show the defense another weapon -- Harris was awful, too, but that he could run kept defenses honest.

McElwain first humiliated himself with the death threats -- I actually don't think they were that bad, but he came back and talked about it even worse.

It's like watching a drunk stumble down some stairs and then try to walk back up and just when he's at the apex, he slides face down, every stair hitting him in the face.

quote:

A competent coach will turn this ship around immediately.

We have the talent on offense and a young defense -- and don't lose your faith in our defense, no one. They got put into shitty position after shitty position because McElwain didn't want to make a change at quarterback. Even a few first downs, put the Dogs on the other side of the field, would have been okay.

It broke their backs early to have two three and outs and have the enemy at the gates before the game really even started, and their already fragile mentality broke.
