Have you ever seen a coaching staff that can't identify/actively sabotages their players?

To the degree that ours does?

A few examples:

McTelvin Agim - He was a freak athlete in high school that ran back kicks and played running back. We signed him as a five star DE. Bert at one time actually considered neutralizing his athleticism, putting on some bad weight, and moving him inside. This year he's been invisible after a great freshman season. Butch Jones sucks, but I imagine he never considered neutralizing the advantage of having Derek Barnett on his team.

TJ Hammonds- He's explosive as frick. We can't settle on a position for him or just find a way to get him the damn ball

Brandon Martin - He got in fatty's doghouse for some reason and didn't play until the Bama game.

Chase Hayden - He's a playmaker and our coach said he was "surprised" that he only got 2 touches against TCU.

De'vion Warren - He's a good kick returner. It took until right before half of the A&M game for him to replace the ineffective, fumble prone Deon Stewart. He immediately got a good return which fatty then wasted by not trying to score points we obviously didn't need:rollseyes:

Alex Collins - Before 2015, we put weight on this guy to detract from his speed

Dominique Reed - got in Bret's doghouse because he resisted putting on weight

Our offensive line- Where do I start? Usually, when a team plays musical chairs with the O-line, it's because they have had a lot of injuries. Before Frank, we hadn't. We were just doing it because we can't figure who should play. We only knew that it should be none of the four stars riding the pine.

I'm sure there are more examples. Feel free to add them. shite like the above is how talent regresses, talent gets wasted, and players lose faith and quit on their coach.

To his credit he has hit a few good ones too. AJ Derby being convinced to move to tight end is literally the only reason he is still playing football. I think Froholdt ends up playing o-line in the NFL.

But yeah. He does way too much of this shite. I don't understand this approach of trying to mold people to your system rather than mold your system to your people. It's failed. Entirely.

I agree with all of those except Martin and Reed.

Martin had injuries at the beginning of the season then he got into a fight with Whaley. Punching the starting running back is a legit reason to be in the dog house.

Reed, for all his athleticism, had a hard time learning routes and he routinely stopped running a route if he thought that he wasn't going to get the ball.

I would add Gibson to your list. Gibson had to beg for a chance. He kicked Florida's arse so good that he earned his starting position. Who knows what other offensive lineman is getting passed over.

I believe it was before 2014, but yeah this absolutely drove me nuts and is the point at which I started questioning #BodybyHerb. Collins had really good speed his freshman season, so of course Bert and Herb in their finite wisdom decided they wanted him to pack on 25 pounds because they completely forgot we don't play in the Big Ten West.
