"After postgame video review and discussion with the on-field officials, it was determined the officials did not see the ball dislodged by an opposing player as the Missouri receiver attempted to return the ball directly to the official. Had that action been seen by the officials in real time, the clock would have been stopped at approximately 0:16 seconds and restarted on the ready for play signal."
So the home team and the conference team with a valid chance for a bowl game receives the benefit of the conference officials' inattention. Thought we left that Texas-type of shite behind when we departed the Big 12.

A lot of problems on that play.
1st. 3 yard pass and Moore does not get out of
bounds.
2nd. Moore has to run all the way over to the
other hash mark to get set. Instead of having
the RB play WR on the left side of the line to
cover up the tackle and Moore lines up on the
right side. Spike the ball saves 10 seconds.
3rd. Should have spiked the ball instead of running
that play. But I believe that is the first
time Lock has ever been in that position in a
game. I know that he never has at the end of
a game. Probably never at the end of the first
half either.

Well this will sound odd, but welcome to the SEC. We will take care of you a lot better then the Big 12 did... but we will still frick you.
I say this as a fan of a team that tends to get the meat hammer.
If you are Bama, Auburn, Florida, or Georgia you will get the wink and nod calls. Possibly LSU as well.
The sad thing is its still the most fair conference out there. We add an extra level of difficulty for every win we get but at least we divide the money equally.

Time management at the end of half/game is a problem; BO isn't good at it.

officiating has been bad across the whole league for a long time
not saying y'all didn't get screwed; but it happens to every team
hope y'all get a decent coach - no excuse to fall this far

This is probably my biggest issue with Barry Odom to be honest. He just doesn't manage the game well at all as a head coach. The offense goes 100 mph until the 2 minute drill, and then seems to slow down? Barry let's 10-15 seconds run off the clock before he calls a timeout, like someone in the booth has to tell him to.
I just think he is distracted by too many things to focus on his main responsibility, to be the HC. Barry needs to find a way to become a CEO, not a foreman.

Correct; some people just aren't meant to be the CEO....for me it's still TBD for BO

If the defense would have stepped up like the offense did late in the game, the ball punching deal wouldn't have mattered.
On the other hand I think by punching the ball out like that, it could have been flagged an unsportmanlike penalty step off te yards, the clock would have been stopped at that point.Or it could have been flagged as delay of game penalty. Either way that part was the officials fault.
But still, had the defense stepped up in the 4th, this wouldn't be an issue.
