Ken Swindle, the Tuscaloosa police chief, found himself explaining this week what was going on when one of his patrol cars was spotted with an Auburn tag on the front. As it turned out, it really was a TPD patrol car and it really did have an Auburn Tigers car tag on it.

Swindle said on a Birmingham radio station Wednesday that supervisors have spoken to the officer and the officer won't be putting an Auburn tag on his car anymore. He says the department goes to great lengths with sensitivity training, and a police department must be impartial.

The chief conducted an investigation and, as it turned out, he admitted one of his officers made an error in judgment. The investigation turned up no other Auburn car tags on city equipment.
