DUI's are never negotiated down in Georgia. You can get your punishments negotiated down. The charge sticks, unless the cop screwed something up.

I guess this is an Alabama thing? Or you say you are in Tennessee, is this a Tenn thing?

Yes they are definately negotiated down in GA just like everywhere else

Yes, I practice in TN, but I also interned at the DA's office in Dekalb County, GA in law school. And they are absolutely negotiated down in many cases. Not in every case obviously but it certainly happens. Here in TN it depends on which county you are in, the BAC of the defendant, and other exigent circumstances with how easy/difficult it is to have a DUI reduced to a reckless.
