bama keeps covering these monster numbers. it would be hard to stand in front of them, but jeez that is a lot of points to lay on the road. I'm leaning towards the aggies.

I'm normally pretty conservation but I think Bama covers.
A&M's offense is one dimensional and A&M's defense sucks.
Gonna be like 42-6.

How on earth is our offense one dimensional?

No argument on our pass defense

How is A&M's offense one dimensional?? Have you seen their QB try to throw the ball?

Never know what nugget of knowledge will drop around here. Good lord.

I'm fine with most that's said about our underachieving team.
But through five games, our offense has amassed 1278 yds rushing and 963 yds passing.
Five different guys have rushing TDs, and six receivers have receptions greater than 20 yds.
I'm no offensive guru, but that seems about as balanced as it gets.

Have you?
If you chuck the opening game against UCLA when he went 3/17 and was clearly overwhelmed by suddenly having to run the full offense instead of his package of plays he hasn't been bad.
In the last four games he has gone 66/109 for 6 TDs, 2 ints, and 781 yards.
He also ran for 204 yards on 26 carries vs Arkansas (10-109) and South Carolina (16-95).

The kid is still very raw but anyone who has watched all the games should be able to tell that he has been steadily improving each week.

Yes. He has a good arm and a high ceiling. It's just that he was playing HS ball last year.

Out of curiosity what sort of stat line do you expect Mond to put up against Alabama on Saturday?
Realistically, your best guess. Pretend you'd win $1000 if you got close.

There's nothing you can predict.
Not even sure if Sumlin is going to do his best to win this game or just get by without the injuries that we normally get from this game. For the last 3 years Bama has beat us 3 times a year from the injuries alone.
Our backup QB is a walk on who has likely never taken a snap in practice with the first squad. Starkel broke his ankle in the UCLA game and Hubenak injured his shoulder and doesn't even warm up before the game. Our only other scholarship QB on the roster is Blumrick who broke his leg his senior season of HS and is redshirting.
This game goes 2 ways:
Sumlin DOESN'T let Mond scramble to avoid taking any hits.
Sumlin spends alot of the week teaching Mond how to avoid hits and we'll let him run in the 2nd half when the defense is a little worn out.

You're averaging 196 passing ypg (10th in the SEC)
You rush for 255 ypg (2nd in the SEC)
You average 48 rushing attempts per game and average 30 passing attempts per game.
You've only thrown 6 passing Tds compared to 15 rushing.
I wouldn't say that Texas A&M is as run heavy as LSU used to be, but I also wouldn't exactly call that balanced when over 60% of your plays this season, on average, have been running plays.
And you'll learn playing Alabama that if you can't throw the ball on offense, they'll eat you alive

Not sure where our conference rank enters this discussion.
I never stated we are an air-raid team; I said we don't have a one-dimensional offense.
You seem to interpret 60% as equating to one-dimensional.
I do not.

I think we can agree LSU in 2015 was one dimensional correct?
In 2015, LSU averaged 38 rushing attempts per game. They averaged 25 passing attempts per game. So LSU ran the ball 60.32% of the time. A&M, this year, is running the ball 61.54% of their plays. No you're not one dimensional like Georgia Tech, but yes 60%+ is one dimensional comparative to non triple option programs.

The topic is shifting, and I'm not sure I understand why (nor am I seeing how a game played by LSU in 2015 is a relevant benchmark?).
The previous poster said "A&M's offense is one dimensional," yet any person with an understanding of number could look at the data and see he was wrong.
Again, I disagree.
All that statistic indicates is that we've run the ball 10% morethan we've thrown it.
Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not claiming that our offense is some kind of high-powered and tricky machine.
But to suggest--as the previous poster did--that we run the ball exclusively is incorrect.

Um if you run it 61% of the time, you throw it 39% of the time. That's 22% more.

Headin' to bed but leaving this here.
More runs than throws? Sure.
One-dimensional? Not by a long shot.
Enjoyed the discussion--night.

Alabama reminds me of the 1995 Nebraska team. Just a steamroller.
I think the team that will be able to claim the SEC Moral Victory Of Losers will be the team that loses by the least.
So far Vanderbilt is leading
Vandy 59
Ole miss 63
If I was going to bet, it would not be against Alabama.
The beatdown they give us this year wont be as bad, because we suck and dont expect to beat anyone. So we will just lay there, take our prison raping, go to our happy place and think Jimbo Fisher thoughts.
