I'm sure he would have been very successful, but he only won twice between '87-'09. It would have only been harder for him in the SEC than he had it in the ACC all of those years. I love Bowden, I know all about his feelings for Bama and respect that. I just don't think he's as good of a coach as Saban is, and I'd rather see Bama right where they are with Saban now than what might have happened with Bowden

Bill Curry won an SEC Title at BAMA. Bill Curry.

Perkins left to Coach Tampa Bay (the owner was a BAMA alum) and Perkins left lots of talent on hand for the next coach. We won 10 games during Perkins last season beating Ohio State in the Kickoff Classic to start the year. We went 9-2-1 the year before that with both losses by 2 points each.

When Perkins left he had the top rated recruiting class in the country coming in. When we hired Curry a lot of those players chose other schools. Bowden would have held most if not all of that recruiting class together.

Never said Bowden was as good as Saban.
