I love how the article assumes Guice needs "50,000 sitting around" to buy a new Range Rover. Nearly anyone in America, rich or poor, can get a loan. And even if you can't, these players all have at least one relative who can. There are plenty of uncles out there who will take out a loan and fix their nephew up with a new ride, assuming that when the NFL check comes they will remember the uncle who took care of them. It's how nearly all of these athletes ride around in relatively nice cars. And it is perfectly legal under NCAA rules. Hell, loans are how most poor Americans still end up riding around in nice cars.

I have no idea what the economic situation is for the family of Guice, but someone still has to pay the loan in the meantime. Not everyone has an uncle or family member that can afford to cover the monthly note on a 50k vehicle for a year or two on top of their own expenses

But pretty much everyone has aunts or uncles. And what those aunts or uncles can do is take money from a booster or "friend" of an agent to use toward that car note, which is in their name

That's not how it works

Mind you, this was before the majority of OM's mess.

Basically, the NCAA doesn't believe black kids can afford cars without help, therefore they must be investigated
