Honestly, Jimbo told him to kick rocks after they embarrassed him and had to answer those questions during bowl prep. Second, Herman hurt his feelings for looking at Texas, and Ole Joe would not compete with Texas for his services. So a fat ex-con named Ponamsky put together a binder that sold Joe on picking EdO. There was supposed to be a search committee, then joe was to do the search, now we know there was no search and Joe had his eyes set on O once herman told him to frick off. How can anyone do this in their day job and not get fired?

Alleva used a search firm. I read the article yesterday. They had two years experience in college athletics.

ETA: Here It Is

"They were fantastic - a huge help," LSU athletic director Joe Alleva said. "They have years of football experience and know all the coaches and their agents. They were invaluable."

Turnkey has been in the executive search industry for more than two decades, working with numerous professional organizations, but entered the college market only a little more than two years ago.
