Over the weekend, Ga Tech police shot a killed a guy, who is into the LGBT movement and is a "non gender" who prefers to be called they/ it, after responding to a call about a person armed with a knife and gun. The AJC released some video of the incident and police told "it" numerous times to drop the knife before one officer fired a single shot, striking "it" in the chest, killing "it".
Today "it's" mother and father spoke publicly and blamed police for not using less lethal weapons (tazer, pepper spray, etc.) and that "it" battled with depression and sucidal thoughts, having tried to hang itself a couple years ago. The father says the police over reacted and should not have killed "it".
Tonight a group protesting at Ga Tech turned violent and have burned a campus police car, causing Ga Tech to notify students to take shelter.

All that said, WTF is wrong with this country? The parents have filed a law suit against Ga Tech and the police because their mental son had a knife and refused to listen to police commands. They should be held accountable for his dumb arse actions.

Suicide by cop. Happens quite a bit by mentally ill individuals. Unfortunately in this case it's going to turn into a policitical war because he was suffering from mental illness that those on the left refuse to accept as a mental illness. Cops did what they were trained to do.

What if it were a disabled grandma, entirely confined to wheelchair? Would you taser her 10 times, killing her? Only asking caused it happened in my area 11 years ago. Yuge lawsuit, no firings... business as usual.

Time to reinstitutionalize the mentally ill, the terrible effects upon society are just too great to continue this experiment any longer.

You are so right. The individual in the OP happened to be neurotic and focused violence upon himself but he could just as easily have been psychotic and turned his anger outwards, taking innocent people with him.

Yep. So many people take that route these days.
