There won't be 30,000 Mizzou fans show up for a game the rest of the year! That's unfortunate, but if a team can't play any better than that, I wouldn't go either!

This will be Odom's downfall.

Simply no excitement around the program

Our lack of support can impact us negatively even further.

Just think about recruiting talented players still available and all they see is an empty stadium. So now we are leaving the potential new coach in the same bind we are leaving Odom.

What can Sterk sell to Chip Kelly when he sees how fans quit and we don't have the true infrastructure in place to get 4-5star talent? We then just turn on him in 2 years?

Fire Odom right now where I KNOW there will be a change next year and name anyone at all as interim and I'll buy tickets for every remaining home game.

Right.

We are in a really bad spot.

Honestly, our fans suck. That's always been a huge problem for Mizzou and always will be. Simply do not support the program on a level necessary to get anywhere close to the top. This isn't a lecture, I'm probably not going to make many more games either, but it's a fact.

Add a shitty team, the protest shite still lingering. It's going to get bad. Really bad.Sterk isn't going to have much of a choice. The protest really fricked us, and I mean bad. Should have been able to make a more proven hire after GP. We were in a good spot, but now we are teetering on heading into a very dark age for Mizzou football.

Such a shame.

One thing Missouri fans are good at....if we are winning, we'll be there. If not.....we won't! We don't tolerate poor play in BB or FB!
The only time I can remember that to be different, was in the .Norm .Stewart era in BB. Seemed like we had good crowds every night, whether we were good or bad!

Bad crowds aren't a good thing no matter how you slice it. It's embarrassing and affects recruiting. I wish our fans had a shred of loyalty

Oh, I agree, but I've seen this since 1960. I'll still go to the games, and when I can't, I'll watch on the tube, but our fans are fickle. Always have been!

You're right.

Our fans are shite. That will cause several people here to get defensive, but it's the facts. Bad crowds are terrible for the program on multiple levels.

It's one reason, maybe the top reason, we'll always be searching

I'll freely admit I'm a shitty fan. I'm not wasting 4 hours of driving time and hundreds of dollars to watch a shite show. Wouldn't do it for basketball and won't do it for football.

I'll continue to root for them but I'm not going to blindly throw my money and my time at them. I'll leave that to others.

Agreed. Went to every game in undergrad. Went to our first SEC CCG.

But it'd be hard if I did have the $$ to justify watching a garbage product out together by a garbage coach/recruiter/teacher.

GP had faults, but he ALWAYS got the most out of damn neat every player he coached. And yea, he's part of the recruiting issue.

But Barry ain't no GP. Odom is a nobody.

Yeah, and just so I'm clear on myself. We don't have to go 11-1. Just play good ball and be respectable and they'd get my money. 1 conference win/year doesn't cut it.

And this is why we are where we are.

I'm not indicting you. It is what it is. Look at all of the top programs.

Agreed. Outside of the Bama type games, GP teams never really got laughed out of the stadium. Or laughed for doing silly shite.

GP also benched players for fumbles and drops. Barry doesn't have the balls right now for that.

Meh. It's a chicken and the egg argument. I can just as easily say we are where we are because of the 80's when I grew up. If they were historically good and put quality on the field year in and year out, I'd be more likely to still commit my time and money even in a down year. i.e. I still go to Card games in a down year but they have history to putting quality on the field.

If I had to guess, you are younger and probably grew up on primarily GP ball. That's a good thing because maybe fans your age will continue to give them your time and money even if it's a shitty product. And I say that as a good thing. The program does need people that will do that.

You live four hours away. I don't expect you to make every home game. It's embarrassing how the Mid-MO guys aren't nearly as into MU football as guys from Central SC, NW Arkansas, and SE Texas. I get that we've got pro sports to compete with, but our fans have always been so nonchalant about our team.

We won? Sweet. I'm gonna take a bunch of selfies on the field and then halfarse watch the next game.

We lost? Oh well. There's always next seasob
