It is recruiting and evaluation.
An SEC head coach recruits the type of players to run their system, regardless of rankings. That is how Gus took a former SEC corner and won the SEC with him at QB.

Isn't that his only way to survive? He has to find hidden gems.. and land a big fish every now and then, that some of the big dogs were going after as well. You're starting to come around and answer your own questions.

He is a better talent evaluator and also a better developer than Gus.

The very moment BB takes a former SEC corner, and wins the SEC with him at QB, I'll give it some thought.

Because one on the field position justifies the entire logical thought?

C'mon man!

This is overall a good thread... Until the flaming and trolling began, then it was good again.

Gus does some amazing things with guys to fit his system. The man reason, imho that he doesn't have more drafted, is his style of play. Some of that doesn't transfer as well to the NFL as a pro system does. Logical? I think so.

He has had success, much to my chagrin!

It isn't like Malzahn turned him into a quarterback. He played the position in high school and then at a very high level as a Juco the season before malzahn took him in.
