Bowl ban hurting recruiting and team player retention? You have to be shiteing me. Last year established the precedent that top players will skip a bowl game and the rest don't give a shite. Bowl ban hurting recruiting? Really? You really believe that?
To those that lack the power of sequential imagination through no fault of their own but rather simply because of a failure in their inherited genes, I'll explain this seemingly antithetical conclusion:
The days of mass transfers, program collapse, etc., are over. A team can rapidly fill up with jr. college players, and in a time of near-free agency, find transfer leadership on the market, players looking for a senior or graduate year to get NFL noticed.
Ole Miss is a brand, a nice address, and a chance to play in the SEC. As has been shown by the scant success of transfers (except maybe QB - and even Alabama transfer QBs have had trouble getting a starting job elsewhere) to other programs, staying in the SEC has its benefits.
Who at Ole Miss would think it in their interest to transfer to... say ... SMU or Utah? I believe people are thinking about how things were 20 years ago when they imagine a program going deep in the tank. The scholly limit will hurt, but not as bad as people think because of the attraction to JC players, etc., wanting to take a stab at the SEC for NFL exposure and who are willing to "walk on" (yeh - right) in return for the "benefits" Ole Miss is so well known for...
