Do you Aggies find he's doing the same thing over there- 220 lb linebackers, etc?

Some guys have eaten and grown out of their position but in general? No.

from Ourlads May Depth Chart
OLB - Alaka, 6'3" 240
MLB - Dodson, 6'2" 242
OLB - Hines, 6'3" 220 (just a freshman)
SS - Watts, 5'11" 205
FS - WIlson, 6'1" 200

Some of the guys that changed positions.
Madubuike DE to DT after his RS year is 6'3" 292
Dunning S to LB after his FR year is 6'4" 235

Good info, thanks.

What I recall from Chavis is still sort of what I see in your post- 300 lb DL is ONLY in the middle, DT/NT. drops to somewhere around 250s-260's at DE. MLB is going to be ok, 240s or so, but you drop to 230's or 220s on the outside. Safeties stay under 210.

I don't know Alaka, but unless he's really fast in space or a Sr, I'd watch to see if he either moves to the edge, or over to MLB. Chavis seems to like to use a pyramid model for size (drops considerably as you go away from the middle), and a V for speed (emphasizes speed as you go away from the middle).

As you've already noticed by now, this fits his preference to blitz on early downs, and go soft zone/prevent on 3rd and long.

Again, fine and dandy for defending fast offenses, including options etc, but when the other team has RBs bigger than your LBs and TEs bigger than your DEs, can become a nightmare.
