The Briarwood stuff being the "Big News" doesn't make sense

I don't want to start a discussion on whether or not those rumors are true. I hope they aren't, but have a tendency to believe and sympathize with the potential victims in this case.

That being said, the big news, as I understand it, is allegedly derived from the phone records pulled by Nutt and his lackeys. Those phone records covered a pretty small timeframe and it seems very unlikely that any evidence of the Briarwood incidents would be present in those phone records.

I think the hairdresser scandal is more likely, as calls related to that could very well be present in those records.

I don't think Hugh Freeze being involved in an affair would be big news either at this point - unless there's a second family or something, Rush Probst style.

The rumor I have heard, which did not come from a reliable source and had absolutely no evidence is that an abortion was had to cover it up. While this might not be a huge deal to everyone, it would be to the people who buy into Hugh Freeze's sermons.

Yeah, that may be a bit bigger of an ordeal.

Frick that hypocrite Freeze, but I kind of agree with what you are saying. This day and age something supposedly so inappropriate to be covered for so long seems unlikely. Not comparing situations, but when scandals like Penn State of the Catholic Church start emerging you quickly hear how someone at some point years ago did complain or informed someone but it didn’t progress at the time. With this Freeze stuff School is on record I believe as saying no one ever has complained to them. We’ll see what happens. Sorry for any potential victims but it's entertaining to see unfold I have to admit.

I've heard 2 rumors. He either forced this woman to have an abortion or he has an illegitimate daughter.

I want to be clear: I'm not doubting or denying the Briarcrest stuff. The length of time the allegations have been around, the fact that the victims coming forward have absolutely nothing to gain other than a semblance of a sense of justice, and the fact that Hugh Freeze at the very least has been proven to be an unfaithful scumbag lead me to believe that these rumors at least need to be investigated thoroughly.

I just don't think the repetitively teased "big news" could possibly be related to this scandal.

Maybe the prostitutes were from Briarcrest.

Both of those seem very, very plausible.

I haven't heard the illegitimate daughter thing, but one of the rumors I have heard is that the hairdresser is married and the husband did not know. If this is the case, it would mean a lawsuit and would make Freeze even more of a scumbag.

It has been said that Jesus can forgive men like Freeze. I seriously doubt most humans can forgive someone that would not only cheat on his own wife but ruin another person's family in the process. He will get no sympathy from me.

Yeah I've read the husband is bringing forth an alienations of affection lawsuit against Freeze. Alienation of affection is only recognized in 6 states and Mississippi is one of them.

Actually was has come out already on his personal side, escorts apparently with some frequency, has been “big news” to me. Not in a world changing sense; but based on the image he portrayed it was a bit shocking. I don’t read every message or article out there but I follow the SEC and prior to this I don’t recall this type of conduct being associated with him. I now read rumors have floated around for years but at least I wasn’t familiar with them.

Cheating in recruiting has been suspected and commented for a while now. So I’m not saying I thought the guy was a saint, but no HC at this level likely is.

Only partly correct.

The original FOIA request covered a small time period. When they stumbled into the escort call they brought it to the attention of Bjork who then went through Freeze's phone records dating back to 2012.

It was then that the pattern of concerning behavior was discovered and Freeze was forced to resign.

Eta: Bjork stuck by Freeze through a lot of allegations so whatever it is must be worse than the previous evidence. I don't see him resigning over an affair or a second family or even an abortion.

It'll all come out soon enough. I just don't want Hugh to be a pedo preying on young girls back in his HS days. You'd be hard pressed to pray yourself out of that kind of stain.

Bobby Petrino got fired for an affair with a single woman.

I think Freeze made multiple calls to escort services and that was a big motivator in having him retire.

The affair is just disgusting if true.

Not sure why you are confused by why this has blown up like it has.

We live in a drama loving society that loves to harp on others hypocrisy to make them feel better about their own. Especially with someone who wore his Christianity on his sleeve. Always concern yourself with someone that over does it as it may be hiding something they are ashamed off.

Unfortunately, there are just a bunch of haters out there that love these opportunities to judge the people they hate for judging.

Sorry, but this is not entirely accurate. Petrino got canned for hiring said girl and paying her while he banged her. Little different than just a run of the mill affair.

FWIW, it'a Briarcrest. Not Briarwood.

Freeze felt the need to give the USA Today fella his itinerary ....going watch daughter play ball, followed by meeting with preacher, then planning to visit some friends in Memphis. God is Good!

But when given the first opportunity to make a public statement, he chose not to show an ounce of remorse or regret for his actions. Or even to throw a word out to his players, fans, and the Administration he disappointed?

Come on. Is it so hard to believe he was having an affair with a married woman if he was banging prostitutes on the reg?
