UT doesn't belong with Aggy.

Aggy is the red headed step child of Texas. Aggy is a representative of old Texas. Oil and agriculture.
Since the 1990's the state has diversified.

There a correlation between heavy investment into the economy and good football teams.
For example Florida in the 1980's. The 3 Florida schools became good in football when the economy in Florida grew.
When the state of Texas began to diversify in the 90's UT began to win and win big.

Thing is the areas that Texas wants to grow the economy in comes from California and the Tech sector. Austin has become a little San Jose in regards to the similarities between the Silicon Valley and Austin.

Stanford is the main engine behind the Tech sector and UT is second behind Stanford in micro electronic engineering.

UT will do what is best for Texas and best for the future of Austin and the state.

OU will follow Texas' lead because OU knows without Texas recruits Oklahoma is just another Arkansas

Yet, so much of the traditions of both teams were built from that rivalry. The history of Texas v. Texas A&M and the Red River Shootout shouldn't be so flippantly cast aside. Those games made those schools what they are today. Those games helped to mold the culture of the states of Texas and Oklahoma. To toss that out because you want to be more like Silicon Valley is short-sighted and unnecessary. You don't need to abandon your past to forge a brighter future. If you lose what you are along the way, what you attain becomes worthless and fleeting.

Texas and Texas A&M need to reunite. They should both be in the same conference, whatever conference that is.
