We (as a state overall) have a lot of connections to Texas economically and culturally. Makes total sense to parlay that into recruiting. Not sure on official numbers, but I'd bet Texas is #4 for providing regular students to the university (behind MO, IL/Chicago, and ks)

It also helps that the only team from the SEC in texas has a coach that could very well be on the hot seat.
