Auburn claims to have made Bryant retire.

Bryant also lost to Southern Miss that season. Probably USM that did him in.

Exactly! Reggie Collier. Bryant was 73-2 at Bryant Denny. That was #2.

I remember listening to that game on the radio at deer camp. Collier was a hell of an athlete. Worked with a guy that played tight end (I think) on that team.

Actually the story is Ben Tamburello made him retire. He realized that it was time when Ben shunned him for Auburn.
