Payne is the main reason that teams don't even attempt to run inside, and that's the best defensive outcome that you can have for that position. Go back and check the running plays attempted between the DEs while Alabama was in the 3-4 defense, and you can better realize his worth.

Yeah but it's not like Allen and Tomlinson were scrubs in there on both sides of Payne.
Payne is great. But what stupid fricking team was going to try to run at Allen, Payne, and Tomlinson with Reuben Foster behind them?
