Homey.......people don't come home from work at the end of the day and say "HONEY......let's watch the 2007 Alabama vs. Auburn game" as opposed to what's going on, on Netflix, or Amazon, and watching a movie. There was never any demand for conference networks. Period.
Nobody spends their evening with their family watching college sports replays on a conference network with the other entertainment choices available. That's not a thing. 80% of your conference network money is due to bundling from people who don't watch (like me).

Conference networks are a false market. There was never a consumer demand. Have you ever taken an economics class?

What the frick is a false market? You think ESPN2, which is worth less than the SECN, exists only because of a false market (whatever the frick that is)?

It's just occurred to me what's going on here. You're an Okie, which means you're hanging your hopes on the possibility that new content delivery methods will up the value of your school's games, which sits in a piss poor state with a low population. What you don't realize is that content delivery in the internet age will come to look a lot like current content delivery. People want sports, and advertisers love sports, because on demand TV has killed appointment TV watching, and appointment TV watching is very important to the advertiser. So, even if cable companies suffer, and even if ESPN shrinks, you will still see sports channels with LOTS of pull when it comes to the content delivery companies. Check out the reduced rate packages offered by YouTube and other online content delivery companies, and you will still find ESPN, and a 5 dollar sports package that includes SEC Network. You'll pay that 5 dollars if you want ESPN 2 and FS1, and SECN will be in that very popular national package.

Holy shite, I see you decided to double down on this bullshite instead of admitting you were talking out of your arse. The SEC network has been an objective success, and for roughly a quarter of the country it's what they pay for the whole bundle for. That's the entire concept dipshit.

The hilarious part is that your argument is self defeating and completely confirms that the Big 12 is circling the drain. Your contention that a small market devoted network can't compete in a standalone market is multiplied by a hundred when the network is geared towards a single school, like the Big 12 did when they left third tier media rights in the hands of the individual members. It was a terrible business decision, and one solely done because Texas swung their dick at you and you hit your knees.

Meanwhile, the SEC network has enough content spread over 14 teams to always have people watching, it found a comfortable middle ground and is generating the value it is BECAUSE there is demand. ESPN has noticed their national programming is trending down, while targeted market streaming is growing like crazy. The trick is finding the right sized market, not too small or too large, and individual conferences each covering a quarter or so of the country are proving to be the perfect size. The revenue doesn't lie, and the SEC is on pace to double your total within a couple years.

Your conference bet on the wrong horse, because one of its memebers strongarms every other member into putting it first, and is now paying the price. Period.
